Wilbur E. "Bill" McLaughlin

Wilbur E. “Bill” McLaughlin, age 85, of Huntington, passed away surrounded by his loving family, at 10:00 a.m. Monday, (December 24, 2012) at his home. The family will receive friends 3-8 p.m. Friday (December 28, 2012) at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (December 29, 2012) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Steve Stull officiating. Burial will be held in Mount Hope cemetery with Military Graveside rites performed by the V.F.W. Post #2689 of Huntington. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to Faith Community Church of God Building Fund in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750. Bill was born July 20, 1927, in Huntington, the son Farrell D. and Marie (Baker) McLaughlin. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served as a Corporal in WWII. Bill married Wanda J. Weaver on January 4, 1947, in Huntington. Bill retired from the Erie-Lackawanna/Conrail Railroad after 42 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge FOE #823 and a member of the Faith Community Church of God in Huntington. Bill was an avid I.U., Chicago Cubs and NASCAR fan with his favorite driver being Jimmy Johnson. He had a love for puzzles as well as playing on his iPad. Bill enjoyed his times in Kissimmee, Florida, and his greatest joy was being able to watch his children and grandchildren during their sports activities and being with family and friends. Survivors include a wife of 65 years - Wanda J. McLaughlin of Huntington; a daughter - Jeanette (Thomas) Ebersole of Huntington, two sons - Robert “Bob” (Wrethia) McLaughlin of Andrews, Wayne (Nancy) McLaughlin of Huntington; sister - Sharon (Paul) Stein of Grants Pass, Oregon; brother - Gerald “Jerry” (Jewell) McLaughlin of Howe; eight grandchildren - Beverly (Ben) Follin of Jefferson, Ohio, Julie DeLeon of Convoy, Ohio, Sara (B.J.) Lusch of Huntington, Jack (Laly) Peters, Jr. of Chester Virginia, Kevin (Brenda) McLaughlin of Wichita, Kansas, Jeffrey (Carrie) Ebersole of Columbia City, Joseph (Angie) Ebersole and Aaron (Pam) McLaughlin all of Fort Wayne, Adam (Nicole Stallings) McLaughlin of Huntington and twenty-one great-grandchildren. His parents and four brothers - Farrell Jr., James, Richard and Larry McLaughlin preceded him in death.
