Sherryl J. Vanner

Sherryl J. Vanner, 78, of Huntington, passed away at 9:52 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2026, at Sage Bluff Health and Rehab Center in Fort Wayne, IN. Sherryl was born on November 15, 1947, in Huntington, Indiana, the daughter of Russell Richardson and Anna Mae (Finley) Richardson. She graduated from Huntington High School with the class of 1966. Sherryl dedicated many years of her life to caring for and helping others. She retired from Pathfinders, where she worked as a direct support professional. Prior to her time at Pathfinders, she worked for 20 years as a sales associate at JCPenney in Huntington. Her love of people and her willingness to lend a helping hand were evident throughout both her personal and professional life. Sherryl had a personality that made her easy to know and even easier to remember. She never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. She genuinely enjoyed talking with people and was always willing to help whenever she could. Her friendly nature and caring heart allowed her to form connections with people wherever she went. In her free time, Sherryl enjoyed the simple things that brought her happiness. She was an avid bingo player and loved spending time playing the game and enjoying the company that came with it. She also enjoyed thrifting, going to the movies, and spending time outdoors. She especially loved swimming and being outside in the sunshine. Sherryl also had a particular fondness for some of life's favorite treats. She was a huge fan of popcorn, M&Ms, and Diet Coke, and she firmly believed, “It wasn’t a party if there weren’t M&Ms.” These little things were all part of what made Sherryl uniquely herself. Survivors include her Two Daughters, Kari (Michael) Goetz of Huntington, IN, Kristi (Eric) Ravage of Pendleton, IN; Son, Kyle Vanner of Fort Wayne, IN; Seven Grandchildren, Mariesa, Mitchell (Olivia), Mariah, Tyler, Spencer, Levi, and Calvin; Two Great Grandchildren, Bennett and Marni; Two Brothers, Charles Richardson of Fort Wayne, IN, Richard Richardson of Craigville, IN; Sister, Diana West of Fort Wayne, IN. She is preceded in death by her Father, Russell Dale Richardson, Mother, Anna Mae Richardson. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
