Rita L. Tullis

Rita L. Tullis, 82, of Andrews, passed away at 2:25 pm Monday, April 20, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Rita was born on May 27, 1943, in Huntington, IN, the daughter of Bryce Hite and Agnes (Harrell) Hite. She graduated from Union Township High School and married the love of her life Thomas Phillip Tullis on May 12, 1960, in Union Township. They were blessed with three children and shared fifty-seven years of marriage before he preceded her in death on August 3, 2017. Rita loved being a stay-at-home mom raising her children and she was a faithful member of Andrews Church of the Brethren. Rita was a proud military wife who respected her husband's commitment to the United States Air Force, supporting him through 26 years of service, including the Vietnam War. While stationed overseas they, became part of the German and US camping clubs where they met some amazing people that became lifelong friends. Rita and Thomas were well known and respected in the camping community. Throughout the camping clubs they traveled the world. She also had a passion for growing beautiful vegetable gardens and attending to her beloved cats. Rita was a devoted wife, loving mother and nurturing grandmother. Her legacy she leaves behind lives on in those she cherished. Survivors include her Son, Thomas P. Tullis, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; two Daughters, Wendy R. Arnold of CA & Rita L. (Troy) Kirkpatrick of Roanoke, IN; Brother, Bruce (Julie) Hite of Lubbock, TX; five Grandchildren, Lori, Nancy, Nick, Jacey, Addie; and one Great Grandchild, Evan. She is preceded in death by her Father, Bryce E. Hite, Mother, Agnes F. Hite, and her Husband, Thomas Phillip Tullis. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Adkins Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Adkins Bailey-Love Mortuary with Dan Kochensparger officiating. Burial will be 1:00 pm Monday, April 27, 2026, in Marion National Cemetery in Marion.
