Patty Lou Shoemaker

Patty Lou Shoemaker, 85, of Huntington, passed away at 7:11 am Friday, April 17, 2026 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Patty was born on June 28, 1940 in Huntington, IN, the daughter of Albert Rader and Ruby (McKinley) Rader. She graduated from Huntington Township High School with the Class of 1958 and married John Wayne Shoemaker on July 3, 1960. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2025. Patty retired as a Receptionist from the Huntington Water Pollution Control Plant after 20 years of service. She also worked in Child Daycare in Huntington for 20 years. Patty enjoyed camping, shopping, taking care of her plants and talking on the telephone. She was happiest when hosting and cooking for friends and family Survivors include her Daughter, Vicki (Fred) Minniear of Huntington, IN; Two Sons, Dan (Chris) Shoemaker of Huntington, IN, Greg (Becky) Shoemaker of Kirkwood, MO; Daughter-In-Law, Laura Shoemaker of Huntington, IN; Three Sisters, Delight Rader of Germantown, MD, Sue Lassiter of Huntington, IN, Nancy (Art) Chenoweth of Huntington, IN; Brother, Larry (Demaris) Rader of Huntington, IN; Grandchildren, Nathena, Cory, Seth, JoBeth, Jordan, Austin, Alexa, Taylor, and Drew; and twelve Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Husband, John Wayne Shoemaker, Son, Steven "Steve" W. Shoemaker, Father, Albert Clayton Rader, Mother, Ruby Mae Rader, Brother, Dewight Rader, and Brother, Clayton Wayne Rader. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Adkins Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Adkins Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Jason Fields officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
