Mary D. Platt

Mary D. Platt, 93, of Huntington, passed away at 4:01 am Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Coventry Meadows in Fort Wayne, IN. Mary was born on August 28, 1929, in Huntington, IN, the daughter of James Ervin and Goldie (Burnworth) Ervin. She graduated from West Rock Creek Center High School with the class of 1948. Mary married the love of her life, Keith R. Platt on June 5, 1949, in Markle, IN. They shared 54 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 15, 2003. Mary was a member of Warren Church of Christ and Sheet Metal Workers local 20 Retirees of Fort Wayne, IN. She retired from Square D after 20 years of service. Mary enjoyed fishing and reading western love stories. She was an avid traveler and never missed the opportunity to see new places. Mary took an Alaskan cruise and visited most of the National Parks with her husband. Also, she took a memorable trip to Ireland. Her love for travel and history sparked many spontaneous adventures. Mary was a proud grandmother and cherished all the memories she shared with her family. Survivors include her three daughters, Linda L. (David) Stearns of Ft. Wayne, IN, Sharon (John) Hoch of Huntington, IN, Donna Williams of Alice, TX; two sons, David L. (Christine) Platt of Columbia City, IN, Donald K (Victoria) Platt of Huntington, IN; thirteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, James Ervin, mother, Goldie Ervin, husband, Keith R. Platt, sisters, Irene Brechbill, Wilma Duckett, Geneva Stech, Ruth Ellen Jackson, and brothers, Jack Ervin, Willie Ervin, Wendell Ervin, Wilber Lee Ervin. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Gerald Moreland officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Etna Cemetery in Huntington.
