Mary K. Hoch

Mary K. Hoch, age 84, of Huntington, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday (September 2, 2011), after a long illness. She was a resident of The Heritage of Huntington. The former Mary Kathryn Saluke was born July 8, 1927, to William and Kathryn Smeltzley Saluke of Huntington. She was a 1945 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. Her marriage was on June 12, 1948, to Max D. Hoch, son of Gilbert and Mildred Smith Hoch, also of Huntington. Her husband preceded her in death on June 13, 2007. A lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mrs. Hoch was a member of the Rosary Sodality and a member of the Third Order of Secular Franciscans. Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a secretary at Our Sunday Visitor. She is survived by two sons, Max Joseph (Linda) Hoch of Roanoke and John Gilbert (Sharon) Hoch of Huntington; two daughters, Kathy Marie (Robert) Chwedyk of Algonquin, Illinois and Jane Ann (John Edward) Hohe of Huntington; one grandson, Les (Mona) Hoch of Fort Wayne; four granddaughters, Danielle (Joseph) Shape of Huntington, and Laura Hohe, Sarah Hoch, and Michelle Hohe, all of Indianapolis; three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. She is also survived by one brother, William (Mary) Saluke of Dayton, Ohio and one sister, Carolyn (David) Ruppert of Huntington. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Saluke and Donald (Ann) Saluke, and one sister, Marilyn Gnau. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Monday (September 5, 2011) at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, with the Rosary Service at 4 p.m. A double Mass of Christian Burial with her sister, Marilyn, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday (September 6, 2011) at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington with one hour of visitation at the church prior to the Mass. Father Ron Rieder and the Rev. David Ruppert will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington. Memorial contributions may be made to the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN 46750.
