Lynda R. Laatsch

Lynda Laatsch age 59 of Huntington died on September 22, 2020. She was born on March 2, 1961 to Charles and Ruth Richards in Lansing, MI. Lynda graduated from Loy Norrix High School, Kalamazoo, MI, with the class of 1979. Lynda earned her bachelor’s degree from Huntington University. Lynda worked as a Teacher for the Huntington County Community School Corporation. On March 31, 1985 she married John Laatsch in Kalamazoo, MI. Lynda and John lived in Huntington, IN. Lynda is survived by her loving husband, John S. Laatsch, sons, Logan Laatsch of Florida, Benjamin Laatsch of California, and Isaiah Laatsch of Fort Wayne, IN, mother, Ruth Richards of Bronson, MI, sister, Joni (Terry) Siler of Bronson, MI, and brother, Matthew (Michele) Richards of Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Richards. She was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church where she was a children’s choir director, praise band member, youth mentor, camp counselor, and church board member. Lynda began her teaching career in 1992 at Crestview Middle School in Huntington, moved to Roanoke Elementary for two years, then Northwest Elementary for sixteen years and spent the last nine years at Lincoln Elementary. She was also an associate at Kohl’s of Jefferson Pointe in Fort Wayne, IN. Lynda was a wonderful, dynamic, positive, radiant teacher who had the best interest of her students at heart. She was an avid Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Star Trek fan, often incorporating their themes into her teaching. She was Starbucks most loyal customer and created many friendships with those who worked there. Lynda was known for her vibrant sense of style, fun loving personality, and her crazy socks. An outdoor Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm & will continue Saturday, October 3, 2020, 10:00 am- 12:00 pm at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 1000 Flaxmill Road, Huntington, IN. A public remembrance will be scheduled at a later date. May we love and care for others like Lynda would.
