Kathryn Ann Craig

Kathryn Ann Craig, age 89, of Huntington, died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday (July 18, 2010) at the Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington. Kathryn was born on November 14, 1920, the daughter of George and Elsie (Ulrich) Saunders, in Huntington. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1937. On July 14, 1940, Kathryn married William E. Craig in Huntington. After 62 years, he preceded her in death in March of 2002. Kathryn farmed along with her husband on their Clear Creek Township homestead. She served as a 4-H Leader and was a Charter Member of Happy Homemakers Extension Club. Kathryn was also a Past President of the Huntington County Extension Organization and a lifelong member of The Church of the Brethren. Kathryn also stressed to her family the importance of work, independence, personal expression, and kindness. She enjoyed sharing in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s achievements and affections. Kathryn is survived by a son – James W. (Donna) Craig of Huntington; a daughter – Judy (John) Michel of Huntington; a brother – George (Pat) Saunders of Avon Lake, Ohio; six grandchildren – Jody L. Weber of Troy, OH, Jeffrey L. Michel of Shelbyville, IN, Joel L. (Lisa) Michel of Fishers, IN, Jill L. (Kevin) Jamison of Huntington, Michael W. Craig of Huntington, Todd A. (Mindy) Craig of Ft. Wayne; and eleven great grandchildren – Jordan Weber, Jenna Weber, Joseph Michel, Nicholas Michel, Matthew Michel, Marissa Jamison, Katherine Jamison, Elizabeth Craig, Alana Craig, Olivia Craig, and Lily Craig. Her parents, husband, daughter – Joy Ann (James) King, brothers– Paul and Eugene Saunders, and sister – Wilma June Saunders precede her in death. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Tuesday (July 20, 2010) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will then be at 10 a.m. Wednesday (July 21, 2010) also at the Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Barry Belknap officiating. Burial will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Huntington In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to the Huntington Church of the Brethren or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive Huntington, IN. The family would also like to thank the caring professionals at Miller’s Merry Manor for their loving and compassionate care.
