Joseph A. Bragg

Joseph A. Bragg, age 30, of Marion died at 5:16 p.m. Thursday (April 15, 2010) at the Saint Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana after becoming ill at work on Wednesday. Joe was born April 5, 1980, the son of Richard E. and Janet S. (Jacobs) Bragg, in Marion. He graduated from Eastbrook High School, Van Buren, in 1998, where he played football, baseball, and wrestled. Joe went on to attend Huntington College and Northern Kentucky University. He married Megan M. Butler on September 12, 2009 at the Lakeview Wesleyan Church and she survives. Joe worked for his father’s business, Bragg Excavating L.L.C., for 15 years. He was a member of Woodland Hills Church of Christ. Joe played softball for the Long Horns Softball team, and with the Marion Parks Department League. He loved to ride his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle with his brothers and spending time with the light of his life, his daughter Mackenzie. Survivors include his parents – Richard and Janet Bragg of Marion; one daughter – Mackenzie Bragg of Marion; two brothers and sister-in-laws – Eric R. and Sherry Bragg, of Marion and Aaron and Brandy Bragg of Marion; nieces and nephews – Kurstin Bragg, Colton Bragg, Alexandra Bragg, Zoey Bragg, and Zach Diskey, all of Marion; best friend – Brian (Heidi) Satterthwaite of Marion; aunts and uncles – Galen and Bonnie Davis of Greentown, Robert and Emily Bragg of Jonesboro, Jane Ann O’Brien of Gas City, Bill and Darlene Jacobs of Marion, Janelle and Chris Love of Huntington, Jon and Beth Jacobs of Noblesville, Mark and Christie Jacobs of Peru, and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents – William and Mary Jacobs, and Kenneth and Maxine Bragg, uncles and aunt – Donna and Bob Hutchins and Jack Bragg. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday (April 19, 2010) at College Wesleyan Church, 200 E. 38th St., Marion. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday (April 20, 2010) at College Wesleyan Church with Bruce Everett, Mark Kemple, and Adam Binkerd officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Memorial Park, Marion. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mackenzie Bragg Memorial Fund (payable to Beacon Credit Union) in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive Huntington, IN.
