Helen "Janie" J. Shank

Helen "Janie" Jane Shank, 92, of Huntington, passed away at 11:30 pm Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. Janie was born on April 13, 1932, in Huntington, IN, the daughter of Miner Wine and Dessie (Shaffer) Wine. She graduated from Huntington Township High School with the Class of 1950 and married Donald Eugene Shank on June 11, 1950, in Huntington, IN. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2014. Janie retired on March 31, 1994, from Heckman Bindery after 33 years of service. She was a member of the Huntington First Church of the Nazarene. Janie was fond of her heritage and enjoyed spending time in her kitchen making noodles from scratch, homemade jams, and canning. She loved camping and traveling with her husband in their RV and enjoyed collecting Teddy Bears. Janie was a very caring person and loved unconditionally. Her faith and family were very important to her. Survivors include her two Daughters, Kathy (Kim) Snowden of Huntington, IN, Carol Ewing of Churubusco, IN; Sister, Clara (Max) Beck of North Manchester, IN; four Grandchildren, Kip Ewing of Churubusco, IN, Kristina (Joe) Webb of Pendleton, IN, Tara (Ryan) Cook of LaOtto, IN; Kraig (Mandy) Snowden of Huntington, IN; eleven Great Grandchildren, Taylor (Cole) Tinney, Katline Cook, Jacob Webb, Lucas Webb, Parker Cook, Kaleb Webb, Shelby Snowden, Avery Cook, Rory Snowden, Samuel Webb, Janie Webb; and three Great-Great Grandchildren, Teighan Tinney, Tatum Tinney, and Tripp Tinney. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Donald Eugene Shank, Son, Terry Eugene Shank, Father, Miner Wine, Mother, Dessie Wine, Brothers, Earl Wine, Sam Wine, Paul Wine, and Richard Wine, Sisters, Mary Ann Pasko, Elsie Reckard, Corlene Flora, and Gracie Wisehart. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Huntington First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Rd., Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Huntington First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Joe Webb officiating. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Servia, IN.
