A Legacy of Kindness, Creativity, and Generosity: Remembering George Herbert Jessop Jr., 1946-2025 George Herbert Jessop Jr., 79, of Huntington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife. His life was a blessing, and the memory of his compassionate nature and heartfelt kindness, we will hold dear and will never fade. George was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on October 22, 1946, to George and Sally (Sarah) Jessop. From a young age, George's brilliant and analytical mind was evident to all, hinting at the wonderful man he would become. Born with a gift for connection, George made friends wherever he went, drawn to people with a friendly and empathetic nature. His gentle soul and servant’s heart defined his life. He was a dedicated provider, a loving husband of over 15 years to his wife Tracy, and a devoted family man. His faith was a cornerstone of his life. As a dedicated Pentecostal, he attended church regularly with Tracy, finding strength and guidance in his beliefs. George graduated from Carbondale Community High School, Carbondale, Illinois, in 1967. George went on to study at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. George’s passions were many. He was a successful electrical engineer with a gifted mind that processed complex systems. He was happiest working with his hands. He was a talented woodworker, making custom-built creations for his family and many others. He was a man who could fix or figure out how anything worked, a testament to his craftsmanship and skill. George had a special way of showing his love through acts of service and thoughtfulness. He walked his daughter down the aisle at her wedding, a moment of heartfelt joy for them both. He was known to create many cherished memories. He was someone who remembered all the extra little details that meant so much to others—a friendly smile, a gentle word, a helping hand, and such special thoughtfulness put into them. George's heart belonged to his family, and he expressed his love through the time and attention he dedicated to them. He was a thoughtful cook and someone who loved preparing a delicious family breakfast, a picnic, or grilling in the backyard. Whether engaged in a family project, going camping, or sharing quiet time listening to the King James Version audio Bible, George prioritized connection and made sure his family always felt cherished. He loved his cats, who would often be found napping with him, enjoying the quiet comfort of his presence. He gave the best hugs, a warm embrace for both helloes and goodbyes that brought immediate comfort and peace. Remembered for his hardworking and giving nature, George Herbert Jessop Jr. was a great husband, father, and friend who lived a life dedicated to the Lord and to his loved ones. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George's son, Timothy Lee Jessop, on October 23, 2025. They passed away peacefully, just days apart. The family is heartbroken by the loss of these two beloved men. They will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved them. George was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, David Rankin Stubblefield II; great-grandmother, Martha McCauley Stubblefield; great-grandfather William Herbert Jessop; great-grandmother, Flossie Seabrook Jessop; father George Herbert Jessop Sr.; and mother Sarah (Sally) Stubblefield Jessop. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy; his son, Jeff; his daughter, Crystal; and their mother, Kathy; his granddaughter, Sarah; his granddaughter, Delia; his brother, Kelly and sister-in-law, Laurie Jessop; sister Sid and brother-in-law Don Formanek; sister Liz and brother-in-law Jim Dixon; nephew, Todd Formanek; nephew, Daniel Formanek; nephew, Justin Dixon and nephew, Jonathan Dixon. A Celebration Of Life to honor George Jessop will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Christian Life Tabernacle, 943 Swan Street, Huntington, Indiana.
