Douglas Miller

Douglas Miller, 75, of Andrews, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Douglas was born on October 31, 1948, in Hazard, KY, the son of Otis Miller Sr. and Mildred (Combs) Miller. He was drafted and proudly served in the United States Army. Douglas married the love of his life Nancy L Richardson on March 18, 2002, in Gatlinburg, TN. He retired from Majestic of Huntington, IN after 41 years of loyal service. After retirement he worked for HAT (Huntington Area Transportation) as a driver for about 4 years. Douglas was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #823 of Huntington and faithful member of the Pleasant Grove Community Church of Huntington. Douglas was truly the Lord's servant and had a servant's heart. He was passionate about spreading God’s word through visiting with others or texting scripture to his family. Douglas enjoyed fishing, eagle watching, gardening, feeding the birds and researching history. He never met a stranger because everyone he met became a friend. During his alone time, you would find him sitting outside or in his garage reading his bible. Douglas had many talents, playing gospel music on his guitar and telling stories. His strong faith and sense of humor will be remembered by his family and all who knew him. Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy L Miller of Andrews, IN; daughters, Teena (Ronnie) Hensley of Huntington, IN, Tonya (Brent) Miller-Bailey of Andrews, IN, Lorretta (Eldon) Parker of Stilwell, OK; son, Dean Covey of Ft. Wayne, IN; 11 grandchildren;11 great grandchildren; sister, Carol Tackett of Huntington, IN. He is preceded in death by his father, Otis F. Miller, Sr., mother, Mildred F Miller, brothers, John Miller & Otis "Fred" Miller, Jr., and brother in-law, Randell Tackett. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday, October 11, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, October 11, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Noel Garza officiating. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, 9:00 am Monday, October 14, 2024. Military Honors will be rendered by the VFW Post 2689 Honor Guard.
