Connie L. Eckert

Connie L Eckert, 76, of Huntington, passed away at 11:25 pm Sunday, May 4, 2025. Connie was born on October 4, 1948, in Huntington, Indiana, to James Hall and Claribell (Morrett) Hall. She grew up in a loving family and attended Huntington High School, where she graduated with the class of 1967. In 1986, Connie experienced one of the happiest moments of her life when she married James L. Eckert, the love of her life, on November 22, in their hometown of Huntington. Their marriage was a beautiful union built on mutual respect, love, and admiration. Connie and James shared many wonderful years together, creating countless cherished memories. Connie retired from Lutheran Hospital, where she worked in customer service for many years. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Community Church of Ft. Wayne. Connie's faith and family were the cornerstone of her life. She found great joy in serving the Lord and loving others. In addition to serving her church, Connie was a dedicated volunteer for United in Love of Huntington. Connie was a woman who found joy in loving her family. Alongside her husband, she spent countless hours gardening, landscaping and turning their home into a gathering place for family and friends. She welcomed everyone with open arms, inviting them to share a dip in the pond or a piece of her famous homemade pie. Jim and Connie’s home was a place of laughter, connection, and where many cherished memories were made. Connie loved working in the garden along side Jim, canning their vegetables to share with the family and friends who gathered around their table. She never turned down a game of euchre, bowling or friendly competition with those she loved. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved to take them on adventures, especially frog hunting. Connie's life was a living testimony of love, faith, and being the hands and feet of Jesus. Survivors include her loving Husband, James L. Eckert of Huntington, IN; Children, Shelly Sands of Greenville, SC; Scott (Gina) Sands of Asheville, NC; Stacy (Paul) Knipscheer of Ft. Wayne, IN; Peter Eckert of IL; Melanie (Brad) Hull of South Whitley, IN; Ellie (Hayden) Krueckeberg of Columbia City, IN; Sister, Marcia Ruppert of OH; Brother, Pat (Linda) Hall of Huntington, IN; Grandchildren, Olivia, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Ethan, Whitney, Trevor, Henry, Clara, Birch, Veda; and one Great Grandson, William. She is preceded in death by her Father, James Hall, Mother, Claribell Hall, Sister, Phyllis Frye, Brother, Doug Hall, Brother, Mike Hall. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Bailey-Love Mortuary. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
