Beverly Ann Leathers

Beverly Ann Leathers, 76, formerly of La Porte, Indiana, passed away at 2:58 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington after a courageous battle with cancer. Beverly was born on January 28, 1950, in La Porte, Indiana, to Olaf Wallin and Audrey (Sly) Wallin. She graduated from La Porte High School before moving to Arizona, where she welcomed her beloved daughter, Sara, in 1980. On January 14, 1997, Beverly married Charles Eugene Smith in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they shared many happy years of marriage, traveling in their RV and creating lasting memories before eventually returning to Beverly's childhood home in La Porte. Charles preceded her in death on April 6, 2020. Beverly enjoyed a successful 30-year career in the mortgage industry. She retired from Washington Mutual as Regional Vice President of Wholesale Loans, where she was respected for her leadership, professionalism, and dedication, as well as philanthropic efforts. While Beverly took great pride in her career, her greatest joy came from her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. Retirement allowed her to embrace her favorite role—that of a full-time grandmother. She created countless treasured memories with her family through her love, generosity, and unwavering support. Beverly is survived by her loving daughter, Sara (Kevin) Lowrey of Monroe, Georgia; her stepchildren and grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will remember her with love. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Smith; her father, Olaf Wallin; and her mother, Audrey (Sly) Wallin. Beverly will be remembered for her strength, kindness, devotion to her family, and the love she so freely gave. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
