Alice K. Clouser

Alice K. Clouser, age 80, of Andrews, went to be with the lord at 2:50 p.m. on the 24th day of August 2009, at her home. Alice was born on November 8, 1928 in Huntington, the daughter of Esser M. and Mabel (Schenkel) Kitt. She graduated from Andrews High School in 1946. Alice went on to receive her Masters Degree in Library Science from Indiana University. She married Peter R. Clouser July 30, 1977 in Fort Wayne. Alice worked for 26 years in the Patient Library at the Marion VA Hospital. She also worked in the Andrews Library and the Huntington Library. Alice was a life member of the Andrews United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and played the organ for 30 years. She was a member of the Huntington County Literacy Coalition and received the Tutor of the Year award in 2000. Alice enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, knitting, sewing, working in the Schaefer Drug Store, cooking at church camp, camping, boating and especially working in her yard. Survivors include her husband of 32 years – Peter R. Clouser; one son - Michael (Kim) Schaefer of Maumee, Ohio; two daughters – Anna (Mark) Drabenstot of Fort Wayne and Laura (Doug) Dillon of Andrews; one stepdaughter – Desiree Clouser of Marion; three stepsons – Marc Clouser of Marion, Martin Clouser of Los Angeles, California and Mel (Mary) Clouser of Athens, Georgia; two brothers – Edgar (Mila) Kitt of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jay (Norma) Kitt of Andrews; grandchildren – Bree, Josh, Bart, Tera, Matt, Zach and Maxwell; three great-grandchildren and special friends – Judy Wright, Mary Barton, Dean & Marlene Thompson, Jane Clark, Ellen & Jordan Hackett, Diana Kuehl, Carol Sunderman and Jodie Vogleman. Special thanks go to Parkview Home Health & Hospice caregivers – Brenda, Rachel, Sonda and Nicki. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. the 5th day of September 2009, at the Andrews United Methodist Church, 39 West McKeever Street, Andrews, with Rev. Rod Smith officiating. There will be an hour of visitation before the service.
