Zelma E. Bitzer

Zelma E. Bitzer, 96, of Lagro, passed away at 9:43 pm Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Saint Anne at Victory Noll, Huntington, IN. Zelma was born in October of 1925 in Huntington, IN, the daughter of Fred Schoeff and Grace (Fulton) Schoeff. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1942 and married Lester Stephan, who passed away in a farming accident. She later married George E. Bitzer in 1964. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2017. She worked as a Farmer and was a member of the St. Paul's County Line Church, the Home Ec Club, 4-H Leader in Wabash County, and was a member of Norwood Golf Club. Zelma was an avid golfer, loved IU, Purdue Basketball and watching the Chicago Cubs, she hardly ever missed a game. Zelma enjoyed going to her grandchildren's baseball games, playing cards, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables and eating ice cream and chocolate. She was also a talented painter and enjoyed spending the winter in Florida. Survivors include her Daughter, Patti J. (Jeffry) Kindler of Lagro, IN; Son, David (Mary) Stephan of Andrews, IN; Sister, Alice Hoover of Warren, IN; Four Grandsons, Joseph (Kathy) Stephan, Mark Stephan, Zachery (Alisha) Kindler, Zaye Kindler; Six Great Grandchildren, Katie (Andrew) Eckerley; Jacob (Liza) Stephan, Zoee Stephan, Wyatt Stephan, Cruz Kindler, Kirsyn Eileen Kindler; One Great-Great Grandchild, Sophie Grace Eckerley; additional family members, Lauren, Lucas, and Larissa; and her loving Grand Pup, Buddy. She is preceded in death by her Son Daniel Eugene Stephan, Grandson Michael D. and Sharon Stephan, Husband Lester Stephan, Husband George E. Bitzer, Father Fred Schoeff, Mother Grace Schoeff, and many Brothers and Sisters. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Chaplain Forrest Tabor officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's County Line Cemetery in Andrews.
