Robert Paul Heiney

Robert Paul Heiney, 84, of Huntington, passed away at 3:30 pm Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his residence. Robert was born on November 9, 1936 in Huntington, IN, the son of Fred Heiney and S. Marie (Draper) Heiney. He graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1954 and married Jean Ann Biehl on September 6, 1958 in Huntington. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2018. Robert grew up on the family farm and continued to farm in his adult years. He had joined the Carpenter's Union of Marion for a few years, then worked as a Construction worker for Marathon Construction building Kmart Stores. He continued his love for construction work and started his own family business, Heiney & Sons Construction with his sons. Later he sold the business to his sons and worked for Lawrence Construction before retiring from Swifty Oil after 10 years of service. Robert was a member of the St. Peter's First Community Church of Huntington and he was a short time member of the AA and was celebrating his 45th year of sobriety this year. He believed in hard work and using his hands was his way of life. He enjoyed logging and loved to restore antique tractors in his spare time. Survivors include his Daughter, Deborah Sue (Hal) Schwartz of Markle, IN; Two Sons, John Christopher Heiney of Huntington, IN, Gregory Allen (Marci) Heiney of Andrews, IN; Three Grandsons, Zachary Ryan (Danielle) Schwartz, Robert Maxwell Schwartz, Johnathan Allen (Kim) Heiney; Granddaughter, Chelsea Marie Heiney; Great Granddaughter, Jadyn Renee' Schwartz; and Nine Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Jean Ann Heiney, Father, Fred Heiney, Mother, S. Marie Heiney, and Brother, John H. Heiney. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, November 5, 2021 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Charles Vernon officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Peter's First Cemetery in Huntington.
