Nancy Ellen Matheny

October 23, 1934 - April 2, 2022

Nancy Ellen Matheny, 87, of Huntington, passed away at 4:00 am Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. Nancy was born on October 23, 1934 in Kokomo, IN, the daughter of Joe Cain and Helen (McIntosh) Cain. She graduated from Kokomo High School with the Class of 1952 and she earned her Bachelor's degree from DePauw University in 1956. She taught Elementary School for a few years prior to and after her marriage to Stanley H. Matheny on June 15, 1957 in Kokomo, IN. She was a Homemaker and she volunteered with the Red Cross. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Bridge Club, the Book Club, First Mother's Club, Tri Kappa Associates, and the PEO Sisterhood. Nancy loved gardening, flowers, and family genealogy. She also enjoyed spending time at Elk Lake, Michigan. Survivors include her husband, Stanley H. Matheny of Huntington, IN; four children, Deborah L. (Mike) Schnepp of Huntington, IN, Tom (Alison) Matheny of Huntington, IN, Susan Matheny of Fishers, IN, and Jill Fuqua of Fishers, IN; nine grandchildren, Jaime, Kevin, Phillip, Kyle, Jesse, Jarin, Jamen, Brayden, and Audrey; and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Father, Joe Cain, Mother, Helen Cain, and Sister, Janet Ducommun. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday, April 8, 2022 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with Funeral services at 12:00 pm Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Dale Linhart officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
