Larry Max Young, 78, of Huntington, passed away at 6:20 pm Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Larry was born on May 20, 1943, in Huntington, IN, the son of Floyd Young and Fern (Hoover) Young. He graduated from Huntington High School with the class of 1961. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War for four years and received an honorable discharge. He married the love of his life Sharon A. Barker on April 30, 1966, at St Mary Catholic Church in Huntington. In 1970 he became the owner of Youngs Café in Huntington, a business that had been in his family since 1911. He retired 16 years ago and sold Youngs Café in 2020. He was a member of American Legion Post 7, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 837, and VFW Post 2689 all in Huntington, IN. Larry was very outgoing and didn’t know a stranger. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling and being a pool shark. He liked watching all kinds of sports or hunting shows on tv. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping with his family. When his children were young it was very common to see him out in the side yard playing sports with them. His true passion was his family and being present in their lives. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Sharon A. Young of Huntington, IN; daughter, Susan K Mote of Roanoke, IN; three sons, Larry M. (Genanne) Young Jr. of Birmingham, AL, Scott E. (Margaret) Young of St. Mary's, GA, Daniel R. (Lisa Nash) Young of Huntington, IN; eight grandchildren, Justin (Heather), Joshua, Michaela, Alexander, Elizabeth, Lucas, Landon and Abby; five great grandchildren; sister, Kay L. (Bob) Eberhart of Port St. Lucie, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd, and Fern Young. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 11, 2022, at Bailey Love Mortuary with Chaplain Ed Hippensteel officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
