Jerry Lee Norwood

December 21, 1932 - December 15, 2020

Jerry Lee Norwood, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 4:43 pm Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. Jerry was born on December 21, 1932 in Huntington, IN the son of Donald Norwood and Ida (Fuhrer) Norwood. He graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1950 and married Rowena L. Beard on August 4, 1968 in Tucson, AZ; She preceded him in death on December 5, 2018. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Jerry retired in 1994 after 26 1/2 years of service as a Heavy Duty Equipment Operator with W.A Sheets & Sons, Inc. in Ft. Wayne, IN. then he worked as a Truck Driver for 9 years at C.M.A. Supply Company. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW Post #2689, Member of the Moose Lodge #827, Member of American Legion Post #7, Member of the Shriner's, served on the Mt. Hope Cemetery Board, and was a Member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Survivors include his Two Daughters, Kathy (Larry) Burd of Fort Wayne, IN, Linda (David) Spindler of Fort Wayne, IN; Stepson, Ben Beard of Bloomington, IN; Three Step Daughters, Cynthia (Dan) Killion of Bloomington, IN, Talinda (Rob) Morrow of Bloomington, IN, Vickie (Robert) Busian of Fort Wayne, IN; Brother, John (Donna) Norwood of North Manchester, IN; Six Grandchildren, and Five Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Rowena L. Norwood, Sister, Barbara Nelson, Brother, Wilbur Norwood, Brother, Robert Norwood, Great Granddaughter, Simone Dufor, Father, Donald Norwood, Mother, Ida Norwood, and Step Mother, Margaret Norwood. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Monday, December 21, 2020 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, December 21, 2020 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Ray Scribner officiating. Burial will follow the Service in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington. Preferred memorials may be made in memory of Jerry to the Cancer Services for Huntington County, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN, 46750.
