Imogene L. Rittenhouse Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Imogene L. Rittenhouse, age 92, of Huntington, died at 9:55 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Saturday at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Barry Faucett officiating. Burial will be in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bippus. Please follow local recommendations for face coverings and social distancing during all events. Preferred memorials are to Bippus Fire Department or Calvary United Methodist Church, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750. Imogene was born on February 22, 1928 in Laketon, Indiana, the daughter of Cuba O. and Mabel Josephine (Ebbinghouse) Helvey. She graduated from Chester High School in North Manchester in 1946 and married Ernest Franklin Rittenhouse on November 8, 1947 in Liberty Mills, Indiana; he preceded her in death on April 10, 2001. Imogene was a 1947 graduate of Ravenscroft Beauty College in Fort Wayne and owned Imy’s Beauty Shop in Bippus for 36 years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Bippus, where she was part of the Women’s Missionary Fellowship. She was a member of both the Warren Township and Nite-n-Gals Home Extension Clubs and was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Bippus. She enjoyed camping and fishing at Pic A Spot on Little Barbee Lake, knitting, and crocheting. Survivors include sons Jeffrey J. (Angela) Rittenhouse of Bippus and Kevin G. Rittenhouse of Huntington and a daughter, Deborah L. (William) Swihart of Huntington. Also surviving is a sister, Norma (Len) Suckle of Scottsdale, Arizona, grandchildren Craig, Jennifer, Travis, Amanda, Stephani, Shawn, Andrew, Jessica, Tyler, and Allison, 17 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Steven D. Rittenhouse, daughter-in-law Debra K. Rittenhouse, brothers Wayne Helvey, William Helvey, and Thomas Helvey, and sisters Anna Mae Fackler and Elaine Messman.
