William Lenard Reed

William Lenard Reed, 94, of Huntington, passed away at 3:38 am Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN. Bill was born on February 5, 1930 in Van Buren, IN, the son of Leslie Reed and Edna (Bell) Reed. He graduated from Huntington Township High School with the Class of 1948. Bill was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He retired in 2015 as a Farmer, working 60 years, and also worked as a mechanic at Kreigbaum & Sons. Bill enjoyed going to his grandkids sporting events, trips to the casino with his wife and grandson, and golfing. Tom and Kathy would like to thank Kelly Lindley for the dedicated care she provided to Bill for the last 2 years, and would also like to thank Peabody Nursing Home for the assistance they provided in his final days. Survivors include his Two Sons, Tom (Kathy) Reed of Huntington, IN, Jeff (Lori) Reed of Huntington, IN; Five Daughters, Lora (Russ) Collins of CA, Belinda Fischer of Huntington, IN, Brenda Daugherty of Roanoke, IN, Beverly Riddile-Weicht of Columbia City, IN, Barva (Jerry) Herzog of Cookson, OK; Brother, Glen of CA; Sister, Ruth of Ft. Wayne, IN; fourteen Grandchildren; fourteen Great-Grandchildren; and two Great Grandchildren on the way. He is preceded in death by his 1st Wife, Vera Stroup, married from 1948 - 1965, 2nd Wife, Marilyn Riddile, married from 1967 - 2014, Father, Leslie Reed, Mother, Edna Reed, Brothers, Jim, Burch, and Carl, Sisters, Mary, Vesta, and Madeline, Grandson, Joshua Reed, Son in Law, Steve Fischer, Son in Law, Steve Daugherty, and Son in law, Paul Weicht. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, September 23, 2024 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Mark Cleaveland officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington where Military Honors will be rendered by the VFW Post #2689 Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Noah Reed, Kraigh Reed, Jeremy Reed, Sam Daugherty, Ramsey Fischer, and Don Kennedy. Honorary Pallbearers are Traci Knickerbocker, Kara Jones, Ashley Johnson, Sierra Meekin, Stephanie Dennis, Erika Sparks, Kristin Amor, and Jason Herzog.
