Russell D. Buzzard

Russell D. Buzzard, 94, of Huntington, passed away at 3:30 am Friday, August 19, 2022 at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, IN. Russell was born on March 31, 1928 in Huntington, IN, the son of Bruce Buzzard and Mae (Martin) Buzzard. He graduated from Huntington High School with the Class of 1946 High School and married Mary Ellen Frewer on March 31, 1951 in Huntington, IN. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2016. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. Russell entered Ministry in 1988. He was the Pastor for Washington Center United Methodist Church and was Pastor for Whitley County, Pilchers Chapel United Methodist Church and Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He also worked as a Custodian for Huntington County Community School System at Horace Mann School, retiring in 1993 after 40 years of service. Russell was a Board Member of Huntington County Council on Aging and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed going to lunch every day with his close friends and he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include his Son, Mark Alan (Charlotte) Buzzard of Huntington, IN; Daughter, Jill (Kenneth) Brumbaugh of Huntington, IN; Brother, Paul D. (Joyce) Buzzard of Huntington, IN; Grandchildren, Lori, Kelly, Joshua, Erin, Rick, Cameron, Zakary, Taylor, and Jared; Great Grandchildren, LeShaya, Grant, Trey, MeKyla, Lincoln, Ella, Evan, Maggi, Levi, Reagan, Sayeh, Quinn, Macie, and Luke Russell; Great-Great Grandchild, Kehlani; several Nieces and Nephews; and his Loyal Companion, Buddy. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Ellen Buzzard, Brother, Charles L. Buzzard, Father, Bruce L. Buzzard, Mother, Mae Buzzard. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 1000 Flaxmill Road, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Evangelical United Methodist Church. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
