Robert E. Ray

Robert Eugene Ray, age 90, of Huntington, went to be with the Lord at 2.32 a.m. Wednesday (October 10, 2012) at Miller’s Merry Manor, Huntington, Indiana. The family will receive friends from 3 - 7 p.m. Friday, (October 12, 2012) at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (October 13, 2012) At Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington, with Keith White officiating. Burial will be held in Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington, with Military graveside services provided by the V.F.W. Post #2689 of Huntington. Those desiring to, may make memorial contributions to First Church of the Nazarene Jesus Film Ministries in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Robert was born April 18, 1922, in Wabash, the son of Clyde and Lurlie (Brown) Ray. He graduated from Bippus High School in 1940. He served in WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. Robert married Lillian Mae Millington on November 11, 1985 in Huntington. Robert worked as a foreman at Majestic of Huntington and retired in 1978. He was a member of the American Legion Post #7 of Huntington and a lifetime member of the V.F.W Post 2689 also of Huntington. He is survived by his wife of 27 years - Lillian Mae Ray of Huntington; three sons - Joe (Cindy) Ray and Tom Ray both of Indianapolis, Jerry (LaVonne) Ray of Coal City; four daughters - Laura (Eugene) Mahon and Becky (Richard) Herring both of Shelbyville, Barbara Pinkston of Alabama and Roberta (Tom) Kattau of Indianapolis; three step-daughters - Joyce Ann Mollette of Huntington, Janet LuRae (Charles) Spencer of Zanesville and Berniece Lorraine (Terry) Shenefield of Huntington; three step-sons - Johnathon (Nancy) Wheeler of Columbus, Ohio, Timothy Allen Wheeler of Huntington and Roger Dale (Mary E.) Wheeler of New Haven; a sister - Louise Wohlford of Bippus; twenty grandchildren and forty-five great-grandchildren. His parents, three half brothers - Roger, Richard and Ross Ray; two half sisters - Joyce Behny and Sue Pfohl, and a son - Danny Ray preceded him in death.
