Robert Brooks

Robert "Bob” Brooks, 88, of Huntington, passed away at 9:52 am Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Heritage Pointe of Warren with Stillwater Hospice. Bob was born on March 18, 1937, in Huntington, IN, the son of Theodore Brooks and Laura Catherine (Rupley) Brooks. He graduated from Clear Creek High School with the class of 1955. Bob married the love of his life, Alberta "Bertie" Mae Crist on August 1, 1970, in Columbia City, IN. Bob proudly served in the United States Army in Fort Ord, California. He served with Eddy Haskell from Leave It to Beaver. Bob was a farmer his whole life, while also working many other places. Throughout the years, he worked for Huntington Lab, Our Sunday Visitor, and Koch Fertilizer. Bob loved going to auctions and finding the best deal, collecting Farmall Tractors, and watching IU Basketball. Bob made kettle corn at the Pioneer Festival in the Brooks’ Village. He was frequently seen with his wife, Bertie, eating breakfast at Richard’s Restaurant in Huntington. Survivors include his Wife, Alberta "Bertie" Mae Brooks of Huntington, IN; Daughter, Cathy (Bob Miller) Thomas of Munfordville, KY; Two Grandsons, Eli Brooks Thomas of Huntington, IN, Grady Thomas of Munfordville, KY; Brother and Best Friend, Don (Luwona) Brooks of Huntington, IN. He is preceded in death by his Father, Theodore Brooks, Mother, Laura Catherine Brooks, Sisters, Norma Darlene Pohler and Genevia Stetzel, Brothers, Garl Brooks, Denver Brooks, and Cecil Brooks. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Monday, April 28, 2025, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Bailey Love Mortuary with Pastor Allen Meneely officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Shock Cemetery in Huntington.
