Rene Quiroga

Rene Quiroga, 70, of Huntington, passed away at 3:53 pm Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief illness. Rene was born on April 16, 1956, in Yale, Michigan, the son of Florentin Quiroga and Maria Beatriz (Salazar) Quiroga. As an only child, he shared a close and lasting bond with his mother. Rene graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1975 and later earned an associate degree. He dedicated the last 49 years of his career to General Motors in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he served faithfully as a Team Coordinator. Rene was respected for his strong work ethic and the close bonds he formed with his coworkers, whom he considered family. He was a proud member of the UAW Local 2209 of Roanoke, IN. Rene married Judy Byers, his childhood friend and high school sweetheart, on March 13, 2025, in Oahu, Hawaii. After more than 40 years apart, they reconnected and found their way back to one another. Rene was a hardworking man who found great fulfillment in the outdoors, whether tending to his chickens, farming his land, or enjoying a trip to the movies. He was known for his quick wit and enjoyed sharing jokes, playing lighthearted pranks, and keeping those around him on their toes. Behind his spirited personality was a gentle, loving heart, and he will be remembered for his determination, honesty, and steadfast character. Above all, Rene deeply cherished his family. His children and grandchildren were the center of his life, and he treasured the memories they shared together. Rene’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Survivors include his loving Wife, Judy Byers of Huntington, IN; Four Sons, Andrew (Makayla) King of Huntington, IN, Ron Quiroga of Fenton, MI, Billy Joe Quiroga of Pontiac, MI, Carlos Quiroga of Croswell, MI; Two Daughters, Elena Quiroga of Ft. Wayne, IN, Ariel (Tommy McDowell) King of Ft. Wayne, IN; and his Nine precious Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his Father, Florentin Quiroga, Mother, Maria Beatriz Quiroga.
