Melvyn L. Scott

Melvyn LeRoy Scott, 85, of Huntington, passed away at 10:47 am Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by family. Melvyn was born on September 10, 1939, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Melvin Scott and Alice Scott (Smith). He completed his education at South Whitley High School, graduating with the class of 1958. On October 24, 1958, in Huntington, Indiana, he married Katherine Ann Lee, the love of his life. They shared over sixty-six years of marriage and raised four wonderful children. Melvyn also was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After a loyal career spanning 39 years at General Motors in Marion, IN, Melvyn retired to embrace the joys of life. His love for gardening, fishing, hunting, and solving mind puzzles kept him active and engaged. Melvyn’s passion for genealogy was a testament to his appreciation of history and family heritage. Known for his generous spirit, Melvyn was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His commitment to family was unwavering, traveling regularly to cheer on his grandchildren at their sports events and any other activities they participated in. Melvyn’s love for his family was apparent in the memories he created with his grandchildren and leaving behind a legacy of warmth and affection. Survivors include his loving Wife, Katherine Ann Scott of Huntington, IN; Son, LeRoy (Cathy) Scott II of Huntington, IN; Two Daughters, Rebecca Scott of Huntington, IN, Jill (Steve) Rice of Huntington, IN; Brother, Ronnie (Marsha) Scott of Mentone, IN; Daughter-In-Law, Mary Ellen Scott of Huntington, IN; Twenty-one Grandchildren; Thirty-two Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his Father, Melvin Scott, Mother, Alice Scott, Son, Douglas Scott, Brother, Michael Scott. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
