Mary F. Hewitt

Mary F. Hewitt, 100 years old, passed away peacefully at 3:37 am Sunday, August 17, 2025, at her home in Southern Huntington County, IN. Mary was born on November 20, 1924, in Banquo, IN, the daughter of Charles Forrester and Frances (Watkins) Forrester. She graduated from Banquo High School with the class of 1943. Mary married the love of her life Glen Hewitt on September 14, 1952, at Banquo Christian Church, where they were faithful members. They shared 42 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on February 10, 1993. Mary had worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Company for many years before becoming a homemaker and raising their son. Mary had a special talent for propagating house plants and spending time in her garden. She loved making homemade noodles, a skill she learned from family and shared with loved ones around her table. Travel brought her joy, whether it was a family visit to Pennsylvania or a quick trip to Shipshewana. She cherished shopping trips with her sisters, where laughter and memories were always part of the experience. Family meant everything to Mary. She cared deeply for her relatives, celebrated special moments together, and was always there when someone needed her. Mary’s faith was very important to her and guided her through life. She was kind, supportive, and always willing to help. Her caring nature and love for her family and faith are her lasting legacy. Survivors include her loving son, Mark Hewitt of Marion, IN; brother, Charles Forrester of TX; and her four-legged companion Tipper. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Forrester, mother, Frances Forrester, husband, Glen Hewitt, brothers, Woodrow Forrester & George Forrester, sisters, Ruth Ward, Wandalee Shank, Ruby King and daughter-in-law Dixie (Blair) Hewitt. Graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in Mt. Etna Cemetery in Huntington, IN., with Pastor Gerald Moreland officiating.
