Mark R. Reust

Mark R. Reust, 91, of Huntington, passed away at 5:49 am Saturday, May 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. Mark was born on January 26, 1933, in Huntington, IN, the son of Henry Reust and Catherine (Ness) Reust. He graduated from Huntington Catholic High School with the class of 1951. Mark proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and was a mechanic on the Boeing B-29 Superfortress. After serving four years, he was honorably discharged with the rank as Staff Sargent. Mark married the love of his life Phyllis J. Miller on May 9, 1959, in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Huntington. They were blessed with seven children. Mark graduated from Ivy Tech College with a degree in Business Management and used his education to make career for himself. Mark retired as a Production Manager from Our Sunday Visitor in 1997, after forty years of loyal service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 253 of North Webster, Knights of Columbus of Huntington, Tri State Engine and Tractor Association Inc. and a faithful member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Huntington. Mark looked forward to planting his vegetable garden every spring, attending tractor shows and going to auctions. He was a collector of clocks, coins, and antique tools. Mark was known as a “skilled” card player, a huge Bobby Knight fan and enjoyed watching I.U. basketball. He mostly liked the simple things in life. Mark was passionate about his family and wanted nothing more than “7 good kids”. His hard work and dedication to the ones he loved will be his greatest legacy. Survivors include his Wife of sixty-five years, Phyllis J. Reust of Huntington, IN; Sons, Mark C. (Sherron) Reust of Andrews, IN, Ron A. (Denise) Reust of Huntington, IN, Eric W. (Holly) Reust of North Manchester, IN, Gary L. Reust of Ft. Wayne, IN; Daughters, Jean M. (Chris) DeLao of Hudson, WI, Jennifer M. (Troy) Harrison of Ft. Wayne, IN, Joni M. (David) McCarran of Ft. Wayne, IN; Fourteen Grandchildren; Fifteen Great Grandchildren and three on the way; One Great-Great Grandchild; Brothers, Harold Reust of Yoder, IN, Lee F. (Marilyn) Reust of Huntington, IN; Sister, Mary Catherine Kate Purdy of Ft. Wayne, IN; Sister-in-Law, Mary C. Reust of Huntington, IN. He is preceded in death by his Father, Henry F. Reust, Mother, Catherine M. Reust, Sister, Alberta Hine, Brothers, Edward Reust, Henry Hank Reust, Bernard Reust, Paul Reust, Tom Reust, William Reust, and David Reust. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Father Tony Steinacker officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington at a later date.
