Mabel Viola Magsig

Mabel Viola Magsig, age 87, of Huntington, left this life for life eternal on Wednesday (December 2, 2009) at 6:35 p.m. at Heritage Pointe, Warren. She had been a resident of Heritage Pointe for the past five months. Mrs. Magsig was born January 21, 1922 in Kingsway, Ohio to Israel and Cora Smith. She was a 1940 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, Fremont, Ohio. Mabel married Royce F. Magsig on December 11, 1945, in Lindsey, Ohio. She was employed as a deputy clerk in the Sandusky County Clerk of Courts office. She lived most of her life in Sandusky County, Ohio. In 1995, Mabel and her husband, Royce, moved to Huntington. Mabel was a faithful member of College Park United Brethren Church and the Galilean Sunday School Class. She volunteered at the Parkview Huntington Hospital until her illness last summer. Her most enjoyable hours were spent with family and tending to the flowers in her beautifully landscaped yard in Huntington. Mabel was one of twelve children; all of whom preceded her in death. They included sisters: Lucy Smith, Martha Smith, Eva Smith, Susan Fronzier, Ruth Burmeister, Mary Caris; brothers: Carl Smith, George Smith, John Smith, and Ray Smith; also a stillborn sister. She is also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Gabriel Campbell Kieffer. Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, Royce F. Magsig; a son – Michael F. (Kim) of Magsig, Greenwich, Connecticut; a daughter – Millicent (Thaine) Campbell of Huntington; four grandchildren – Trea (Trent) Kiefer of Huntington, Noll Campbell of Indianapolis, Matthew Magsig of New York City, and Elizabeth Magsig of Washington, D.C.; step-grandson – Sean Carney of Oxford, Ohio; step-granddaughter – Karianne Carney, Greenwich, Connecticut; and two great – granddaughters, Ainsley and Elyse Kiefer, both of Huntington. Visitation will be 3 – 7 p.m. Sunday (December 6, 2009) at Bailey – Love Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday (December 7, 2009), at Bailey – Love Mortuary, with Reverend Gary Dilley officiating. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
