Lila Lee Sprinkle

Lila Lee Sprinkle, 92, of Huntington, passed away peacefully at 8:40 pm Monday, May 12, 2025. Lila was born on March 17, 1933, in Bippus, IN, the daughter of William Garretson and Geraldine "Dorothy" (Heller) Garreston. She graduated from Bippus High School with the class of 1951. On September 22, 1951, in Huntington, Lila exchanged vows with James Ray Sprinkle, the man who would become her lifelong companion. Their marriage was a testament to unwavering love and commitment, spanning an incredible 71 years. James preceded her in death on January 14, 2023. Lila had dedicated several years of service as a secretary for the assistant superintendent at Huntington County Community School Corporation and as an assistant at Lancaster Elementary School. As a faithful member of New Hope Church in Bippus, she has actively participated in various church activities, offering her time, energy, and compassion to others. Lila enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, especially the hummingbirds. Feeding the birds was more than just a pastime for Lila; it was a way to connect with nature and find peace in the simplicity of life. Gardening was another of Lila's passions, and she had a talent for creating stunning flower gardens around their home. Her green thumb extended beyond flowers; she was an enthusiastic vegetable gardener as well. Each harvest was a celebration, a reward for her hard work and dedication. Canning vegetables was an annual tradition for Lila, preserving the flavors of summer to be enjoyed throughout the year. Lila found happiness in the simplest of moments shared with her family. Whether it was a casual cookout, or a quiet evening spent watching the birds, these moments held immense significance for her. Each laugh and each heartfelt conversation added joy of her life. Her journey was one of love, resilience, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all those who knew her. Lila Garretson Sprinkle's story is a celebration of life, love, and the enduring bonds of family. Survivors include her Daughter, Lynette (Larry) Rodgers of Craigville, IN; Two Sons, James “Jim” (Carol) Sprinkle Jr. of Huntington, IN, Blaine Tyler Sprinkle of Peru, IN; Seven Grandchildren; Ten Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Father, William Charles Garretson, Mother, Geraldine "Dorothy" Garreston, Husband, James Ray Sprinkle, Sr., and Sister, Sharon Sue Sell. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Lila’s final resting place with be next to her husband in Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington.
