Kevin D. Shoemaker

Kevin D. Shoemaker, 73, of Huntington, passed away at 3:40 am Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at his residence. Kevin was born on September 12, 1951, in Marion, IN, the son of Victor and Connie (Kahler) Shoemaker. He graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1970. Kevin married Sandy Kimmel on June 26, 1993, at Memorial Park in Huntington, Indiana. He retired from Bendix after 12 years of service in 2016. Prior to that, he worked at United Technologies / Dana for over 33 years in the tool and die department. Kevin was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association where he was the Safety Educator and President. He was also the president of the United Paperworkers International Union Local 7307 of Andrews. Kevin was a member of the Northview Church of Christ where he was a deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a current member of St. Peter’s First Community Church. One of Kevin’s proudest achievements was riding his motorcycle in all 50 states by his 50th birthday. He enjoyed hunting, watching football games, going to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, camping, and spending time with family. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears fan. Kevin had the most fun when he would have all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren over to his house. Survivors include his Wife, Sandy Shoemaker of Huntington, IN; Two Daughters, Jennifer Shoemaker of Fort Wayne, IN, Christine (Eric English) Rhen of Fort Wayne, IN; Three Grandsons, Trevor (Laarni) Hafner of Fort Wayne, IN, Mason Rhen of Huntertown, IN, and Drake Rhen of Fort Wayne, IN; Three Granddaughters, Haley (Alden Lopez) Brooks of Fort Wayne, IN, Alexis Story of Fort Wayne, IN, and Jolyn Rhen of Fort Wayne, IN; Two Great Grandsons, Rowen Hafner of FL, Renji Hafner of Fort Wayne, IN; Three Great Granddaughters, Anja Lopez of Fort Wayne, IN, Nyjah Lopez of Fort Wayne, IN, and Maya Lopez of Fort Wayne, IN; Two Brothers, Steve Shoemaker of Marion, IN, Ken Shoemaker of Huntington, IN; Two Sisters, Vickie Phillippe of Gas City, IN, Laura (Walter) Herendeen of Angola, IN. He is preceded in death by his Father, Victor Shoemaker, Mother, Connie Shoemaker, Stepmother, Diane Shoemaker, and Sister, Deborah Fuller. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, December 16, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Adam Jones officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Peter's First Cemetery in Huntington.
