Janice L. Wynkoop

Janice L. Wynkoop, 71, of Huntington, gained her forever wings surrounded by her loved ones, at 8:05 pm Tuesday March 25, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Janice was born on September 24, 1953, in Huntington County, IN, the daughter of Earl E Baumgardner and Anna A. (Dalrymple) Baumgardner. She attended Huntington North High School graduating with the class of 1973. Janice married David R Wynkoop on July 19, 1975, in Huntington County. Janice loved being around people, which allowed her to hold many different jobs throughout Huntington County over the years. Janice worked at Majestic for 19 years, then she went on to work at Huntington North High School in the special education department for 11 years. She worked at Youth Services Bureau in Huntington for several years. Janice then retired from Owens south in 2019 after 33 years of service. After her retirement from Owens and spending time with her grandchildren, she recently returned to working part time in the Huntington County Tax office helping out during tax season. When Janice wasn't working you could find her at sporting events cheering on her children, grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews. Traveling with her family to the Great Smoky Mountains or viewing the lighthouses along the Michigan shoreline. Janice enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cards, camping and occasionally sounding the alarms with her cooking. Most of all she loved spending time with friends and family especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Jancie is survived by her husband David Wynkoop of 49 years. Five children Rachel (Miguel) Hernandez of Huntington, IN, Melissa Wynkoop of Huntington, IN, Katie (Chris McDonald) Wynkoop of Pierceton, IN and Twin Sons Jarod (Ashley) Wynkoop and Jeremy (Jennifer) Wynkoop, both of Huntington, IN. Fourteen Grandchildren; Dylan Wynkoop, Ethan Stafford, Jessica Hernandez, Alivia Hernandez, Melodie Wynkoop, Lillie Wynkoop, Levi Adams, Lennon Ray, Kensi Wynkoop, Kennedy Wynkoop, Lincoln Wynkoop, Rebecca Greene, Matt Greene, and Noah Greene. Great granddaughter Paisley Jo Stafford all of Huntington, IN. Also surviving are her siblings Judy Scher of Huntington, IN, Jane (Tom) Schmitt of Chandler, AZ, Julie McCown of Huntington, IN, Jeff (Connie) Baumgardner of Huntington, IN. Sister-in-laws, Susan Baumgardner of Logansport, IN, Sharon Betz of Huntington, IN, Jennifer (Steve) McNally of Huntington, IN, and Candy Richardson of Huntington, IN Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers James “Jim” Baumgardner and Gary “Joe” Baumgardner. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 4:00 pm at the Heritage Hall, 631 Taylor Street Huntington, IN, with Pastor Scott Snodderly officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date at the Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington, IN.
