H. Maxine Stetzel

H. Maxine Stetzel, formerly of 1824 E. State St., Huntington, Indiana passed away on September 13, 2022 at the age of 104. She had been a resident of the Heritage of Huntington since November 2001. She was born to Carl H. Sunderman and Elizabeth (Gunzenhauser) Sunderman on June 2, 1918. She was married to Brice D.. Stetzel by Rev W.J. Schnedler at St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was member her whole life and also attended 7th & 8th grades in the old Lutheran School and later graduated from Huntington Township High School class of 1936. She was employed at Coil Engineering Plant in Roanoke for 22 years and then Square D for in Huntington for 13 ½ years, retiring in 1980. She and her husband Brice of 63 years loved to travel. She was also an avid hand quilter, assisting the quilters group at her church and a member of the Piecemaker’s Quilt Club of Huntington. She made over 85 small and large quilts for family & friends, receiving many ribbons at the 4-H Fair. After retiring she and her husband Brice spent 20 years camping with NCHA clubs and wintering in Florida. She and Brice moved to the Heritage in 2001 where she obtained a sewing room to continue her hobby with fellow residents and continued to hold an Annual Bazaar until age 95. She finished her last quilt at age 97. She is survived and loved by her many Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Brice D. Stetzel, Father, Carl H. Sunderman, Mother, Elizabeth Sunderman, Brother, Glenn Sunderman, Brother, Raymond Sunderman, Brother, Paul Sunderman, Sister, Eva Griffith, and Sister, Myra Hower Turner. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Timothy Lorenz and Pastor Stephan Hower officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
