George E. Wintrode

George E. Wintrode, 87, of Andrews, passed away at 10:51 pm Sunday, March 30, 2025, at his residence. George was born on February 3, 1938, in Wabash, IN, the son of Robert Wintrode and Nola (Alexander) Wintrode. He graduated from Lagro High School with the class of 1956. George married Brenda on October 24, 1989, in Las Vegas, NV. George was a past member of the Huntington Moose Lodge 837 and Andrews Lions Club. George was quite an entrepreneur as he owned and operated a barber shop in Huntington, an ice cream shop in Andrews, George’s Construction of Huntington County, George’s Doghouse of Huntington and the jewelry store, Gold Connection of Huntington. He retired in 2021 after 21 years of Co-Owning Century 21 Property Shoppe. In his free time, he loved spending time outdoors. George enjoyed working in the yard and feeding the birds. George also was passionate about classic cars. He helped organize the Huntington Car Club and spent countless hours at car shows. Anyone that knew George understood he had a bit of an ornery side, and some may say he was a character but was always there to help when needed. Survivors include his loving Wife, Brenda L. Wintrode of Andrews, IN; Son, George E (Tammy) Wintrode Jr. of WA; Daughter, Tami Wintrode-D'Angelo of Nashville, TN; two step-sons, Kelly R (Kelly) Forth of Mount Juliet, TN, Steven T. (Ann) Forth of Huntington, IN; Nine Grandchildren; eleven Great Grandchildren; Two Sisters, Mary Ruth Mendenhall of Lafountain, IN, Jean Ann Halle of Mayer, AZ; Brother, Daniel O. Wintrode of Andrews, IN. He is preceded in death by his Father, Robert Wintrode, and Mother, Nola Wintrode. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 4, 2025, at Bailey-Love Mortuary. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
