Emma Caroline Riggle

Emma “Caroline” Riggle, 96, of Huntington, passed away peacefully at 10:11 am Friday, July 12, 2024, at Tipton Place retirement home surrounded by her family. Caroline was born on July 20, 1927, in Rochester, IN, the daughter of Fred Reed and Minnie (Miller) Reed. She graduated from Huntington High School with the class of 1945 and married the love of her life Harold Clifford Riggle on February 16, 1947, in Huntington. They shared 71 wonderful years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 4, 2018. Caroline retired from Magnetek of Huntington, IN after 9 years of service. She also worked at Huntington Herald Press and the Noblesville Daily Ledger as a proofreader for several years. Caroline lived an exceptionally good healthy life. She led each day with a grateful and selfless heart. Caroline always looked forward to hosting guests, especially all the family gathering at their cottage on Big Lake. She was known for her talented oil paintings and her unconditional love for the many family dogs she had throughout her life. Caroline was an avid reader and enjoyed murder mystery novels, golfing, fishing, playing cards or the game of Aggravation with her family. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Caroline’s legacy will live on forever with those who loved her. Survivors include her children, Roxanne R. (Ken) McArthur of Richboro, PA, Beverly J. (Randy) Crook of Arcadia, IN, Thomas C. (Tina) Riggle of Huntington, IN, Mark A. (Linda) Riggle of Huntington, IN; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Clifford Riggle, father, Fred H. Reed, mother, Minnie Reed, sister, Freida Hammel, brothers, Virgil Reed, Wilbert Reed, Edger Reed, and great grandson, James Timothy Crook. The Riggle Family would like to express their gratitude for all the love and compassion the staff at Tipton Place showed towards Caroline and her family during her stay for the past 7.5 years. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Graveside services will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
