Dorotha M. Reed

Dorotha M. Reed, age 92, recently living in Kenosha, Wisconsin, formerly of Fort Myers, Florida and Huntington, Indiana, passed peacefully in her sleep at 5:20 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, at Regency Manor in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A celebration of life service will be from 10 - 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church, 8260 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Clint Cottrell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Huntington County. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Alliance or Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church in Fort Myers, Florida, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750. Dottie was born on May 12, 1922 in Princeton, Kentucky, the daughter of Luther and Carrie (Chambliss) Morgan. She was a Mezzo Soprano Soloist and graduated in 1940 from Butler High School in Princeton, Kentucky. She married Clyde D. Reed on January 31, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky, who preceded her in death on January 2, 1993. Dottie retired from the Village of Mount Prospect as a secretary in the finance department after 14 years of service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntington, a member of the Eastern Star, Daughter of the Nile, and an active member and Deacon of Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church in Fort Myers. One of her favorite memories was when she harmonized from the Methodist Hymnal while Donna played the piano. She was cared for in final illness by her Grandchildren and families. Dottie was a dear friend to many, loved and adored by all who knew her. Survivors include two daughters - Donna (the late Edward) Henriksen, (Burnie) Humphrey of Ft. Myers, Florida and Louise (Richard) Sivik of Verona, New Jersey; two grandchildren - Brian (Karin) Henriksen and Michelle (Greg) Gates; four great grandchildren - Leah, Kelsie, Kyle, and Andrew; She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister - Thelma Morgan, and grandson - David Henriksen.
