Charles E. Cordill

Charles E Cordill, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 7:57 pm Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Charles was born on April 6, 1944, in Wabash County, IN, the son of James Cordill and Ruth (Stafford) Cordill. He attended Manchester High School in North Manchester, IN, and was drafted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Charles was a truck driver for Hiner Transport of Huntington, Phelps Dodge of Ft. Wayne, and retired in 2005 from B&B Trucking of Ft. Wayne. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #160 of Roanoke, IN, and the VFW Post 2689 of Huntington, IN. He was also a 30-year member of 40 & 8 V 850 of Huntington, IN. Charles enjoyed working on small engines and tinkering around. His green thumb and love of plants kept him busy in his gardens. However, in all of life’s joys, the one thing that made Charles the happiest was spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his Two Daughters, Carla Cordill of Bluffton, IN, Laura Conley of Ft. Wayne, IN; Three Sisters, Sereta Jasper of FL, Judy Stounder of FL, Susan Eckright of IN; Two Grandsons, Brandon Durnell, Zachary Durnell; Two Granddaughters, Cortney Cline, Misty Cordill; Seven Great Granddaughters, Jalyn Durnell, Zenly Meek, Olivia Durnell, Angelina Durnell, Nickala Prince, Kristin Casinio, Adam Wheeler; and his beloved Dog, Bailey. He is preceded in death by his Father, James D. Cordill, Mother, Ruth L. Cordill, Ex-Wife, Gloria Cordill, Daughter, Jana Cordill, Brothers, Bill Cordill, Don Cordill, Max Cordill, Elmer Cordill, Son In-Law, Jack Conley and Granddaughter, Desire Cordill. Memorial Service will be held October 14th from 1:00pm -4:00pm at The American Legion Post 160, 1122 N Main St, Roanoke, IN. American Legion Color Guard Service will start at 2:00pm.
