Anita M. Huerta

Anita Marie Huerta (Choiniere), 58, was welcomed into Heaven at 1:04 a.m. on November 19, 2012 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. She was born in Peoria, Illinois where she graduated from Richwoods High School. Anita went on to work at Proctor Hospital as a Respiratory Therapist. It was while she was working at the hospital where she met and married her soul mate and husband, José Huerta. They were married on May 1, 1982 and last celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Surviving are her husband, José; four sons: Mateo Huerta at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, Andros Huerta of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Miguel Huerta of Huntington, Indiana, Manolo Huerta of Huntington, Indiana; three daughters: Marianita Huerta (Ketner) and Dustin Ketner of Huntington, Indiana, Annalise Huerta, Huntington, Indiana, and Alia Huerta of Huntington, Indiana; her aunt Phyllis Choiniere of Villa Park, Illinois and her brother Kevin (Tami) Choiniere of Martinez, California. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Phyllis Choiniere and one brother, Ken Choiniere Jr. Anita was a parishioner at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday (November 23, 2012) at Bailey Love Mortuary located at 35 West Park Drive Huntington, Indiana 46750. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (November 24, 2012) with viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church 860 Cherry Street, Huntington. In lieu of flowers please consider sending memorials to Kid’s Kampus, Youth Services Bureau, St. Peter and Paul Church, and Huntington Tea Party. Anita was a wizard in her garden, a fanatical Cubs fan, and a competitive Pinochle player. She was a kitchen queen to her family with her Mexican food creations and baked delights, being sought out by those who knew her. She was most recently a coupon queen and enjoyed her close circle of companion spirits! Among her many adventures in life, she convinced José to join her belly dancing troop and to cater Mexican food. Due to her love of country, she was a supporter of the Huntington Tea Party. With José, over 16 years, she shared her love with over 53 foster children and adopted 7. José and Anita were awarded Foster parents of the year from the State of Indiana and Iowa. Anita shared her humor, opinion, and care with all. She never made friends - she made family.
