Ellen L. Owens

Ellen L. Owens, 78, of Huntington, passed away at 10:38 pm Friday, September 6, 2024, at Heritage Pointe of Warren. Ellen was born on February 2, 1946, in Huntington, IN, the daughter of Dean Young and Lillian (Baublet) Young. She graduated from Huntington High School with the class of 1964 and continued her education at International Business College where she earned a certificate in medical office specialist. Ellen married the love of her life Joseph Owens on January 25, 1964, in Huntington. They shared 33 years of marriage and blessed with 5 children before he preceded her in death on November 26, 1997. Ellen was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Huntington. She had active roles in her church previously serving on St Mary School Board and was a Past President of the Rosary Sodality. Ellen retired from Parkview Huntington Hospital in 2008 after 17 years of service in medical records. Ellen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her passion and devotion to those she loved was unwavering. She had an infectious smile that would light up a room. Ellen had a talent unlike anyone else, she could make anything beautiful. Her flower and vegetable gardens looked like a page out of a magazine. Ellen’s masterful cooking, baking, cake decorating and sewing were phenomenal. She had many successes in her life, however the two that meant the world to her were her family and her tremendously strong faith. Ellen lived each day with a grateful heart and although some of her memories faded her legacy will live on in those she loved and adored. Survivors include her 5 loving children, Matthew (Camilla) Owens of Huntington, Theresa (Jeffry) Young of Huntington, Janell (Richard) Goulding of Warren, IN , Michelle (James) Cadoret of Monroeville, IN, Annette (Robert) Adamson of Huntington; 17 grandchildren, Chet, Nathena, Heather, Sarah, Amy, Audra, Karise, Jared, Dustin, Josephine, Tonya, Joshua, Toni, Ashley, Taylor, Jonathon, Shelbie; 23 great grandchildren; and sister, Judy (Scott) Frewer of Huntington, IN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Owens, father, Dean E Young, mother, Lillian R Young, brother, Roger Young and great grandson Ethan Kabage. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN, with Recitation of the Rosary starting at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington. Preferred memorials may be made in memory of Ellen L.
