Amy Lynn Smart

Amy Lynn Fleser-Smart, 58, of Roanoke, passed away unexpectedly in a vehicular crash at 6:40 pm Saturday, April 13, 2024, in Roanoke, IN. Amy was born on March 15, 1966, in Lansing, MI, the daughter of James Fleser and Diane (Booker) Fleser. She graduated from Freeland High School with the class of 1984. She continued her education at Michigan State University and finished with her master’s degree at Carnegie Mellon University. She married the love of her life Christopher T. Smart on February 29, 2020, in Culver, IN. She worked for General Motors for 20 years as the Director of Marketing and IT. The last 2 years she has worked for One America Financial as the Director of IT. Amy spent her free time as the Crew Chief for the Dream Catcher Hot Air Balloon Team, where they traveled the nation flying hot air balloons together. She loved cooking and baking, especially to share with her family, and was even known for her “Mama Lama Brownies.” Amy loved hosting her family gatherings of 70+ people. It was not a surprise to see her prepping pie crust as she played euchre. Amy loved making those around her feel special. She enjoyed giving to others and doing anything she could to help anyone. Amy was the type of person who loved freely and never hesitated to help a friend in need. Her bright smile will be missed by all those who loved her. The things she took the most pride in were her 2 children, Preston and Kirsten Lama, and the beautiful life and home she created with her husband. Survivors include her Husband, Christopher T. Smart of Roanoke, IN; Three Sons, Preston Lama of Roanoke, IN, Sajan Lama of Centerville, VA, Michael (Ashley) Smart of Huntington, IN; Five Daughters, Kirsten Lama of Lansing, MI, Sujata (Sushil) Pakhrin of Chattanooga, TN, Janeé (David Baker) Wisel of Huntington, IN, Amy Jo (Joseph Scheid) Parsons of Fort Wayne, IN, Candice (Morgan) Jarrett of Las Vegas, NV; Eleven Grandchildren; Mother, Diane Fleser of Williamston, MI; Two Sisters, Teri Chamberlain of Webberville, MI, Julie (Timothy) Penfield of Middleville, MI; Brother, James (Karen) Fleser of Oakland, CA. She is preceded in death by her Father, James Fleser, and Brother-In-Law, Edward Chamberlain. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday, April 19, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St, Huntington, IN, with Father Tony Steinacker officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
