Zelda R. Sonner Vardaman, age 87, 6421
Hillside Oaks Drive, Ft. Wayne, died Wednesday (November 1, 2006) at
12:58 a.m. at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Mrs. Vardaman was a bookkeeper for the former La Fontaine Hotel and Omega Restaurant retiring in 1974. A resident of Roanoke and Markle for most of her life, Zelda graduated from Roanoke High School in 1938.
Mrs. Vardaman was born June 5, 1919 in Huntington to Fred Elmer and Fern (Patten) Sonner. She married Ralph E. Vardaman in 1945 in Ft. Wayne, IN. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2005.
Survivors include two daughter – Pamela Wall of Huntington and Paula (Richard) Miller of Ft. Wayne, IN; one sister – Willadean Ketterman of Ft. Wayne, IN; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother – Fred Elmer Sonner, Jr., sister – Monah Langston, and grandson – Randy Nichols, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday (November 3, 2006) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday (November 4, 2006) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Howard Cherry officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, IN.
