Obituaries

     Wilma E. Shuman, age 81, of rural LaFontaine in Wayne Township, Huntington County, died Friday (March 31, 2006) at 10:22 a.m. at the Parkview Huntington Hospital.

     Mrs. Shuman was a homemaker and remained active with her husband in their farming operation in Huntington and Wabash Counties.  She retired from her Farm & Business Income Tax and Accounting Service.  Mrs. Shuman also was employed with the Huntington Township School System as secretary, treasurer, and bookkeeper for many years.  A lifetime resident of Huntington County, Mrs. Shuman was a member of the Church of the Brethren. She and her husband served as volunteers for Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home for 25 years.

     Mrs. Shuman was born on April 4, 1924, in Lancaster Township, Huntington County, the daughter of Osvun Wolket and Iva M. (Cook) Sanger. Wilma graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1942.  She married Charles A. Shuman on November 21, 1948 in Huntington.     

     Survivors include her husband of 57 years – Charles A. Shuman and one daughter – Mrs. James C. (Nancy) Breiner of Huntington County.  A sister, Wilodean E. Metzger, and a grandson, Scott C. Breiner, preceded her in death.

     Visitation will be 10 – Noon on Monday (April 3, 2006) at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be at 12 pm (noon) on Monday (April 3, 2006) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Glenn Mulligan officiating.  Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.  

     Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Services for Huntington County or to the American Heart Association in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive Huntington, IN.
