Remembrance Video for William R. "Bill" Simmons

     William R. “Bill” Simmons, age 78, 1230 Condit Street, Huntington, died at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday (February 20, 2008) at his home.

     Mr. Simmons retired from Huntington Laboratories where he worked for over 33 years in the shipping and receiving department.  A veteran of the Korean War, William served as a Corporal in the United States Army.

     William was born on July 21, 1929 in Flintville, Tennessee, the son of John D.  and Minnie M. (Norris) Simmons.  He married Helen V. Walters on June 19, 1953 in Huntington.

     Survivors include his wife of 54 years – Helen V. Simmons of Huntington; two sons – Ronald K. Simmons of Warsaw, IN and David W. Simmons of Ft. Wayne; four daughters – Vickie Ham of Decatur, Robin Simmons of Canton, Ohio, Barbara (Mike) Fisher of Huntington and Tammy (Leslie) Fernandes of Hagertown, Maryland; one brother – Leon Wayne (Janet) Simmons of Huntington; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

     Seven Brothers – Horace Simmons, Donald Simmons, Guy Simmons, Hudane Simmons, Roy Simmons, Crawford Simmons and Leo Simmons; and six sisters – Lorren Simmons, Elizabeth Boggs, Odell Gray, Reatha Hanline, Carline Bartlett and Lela Heath preceded him in death.

     Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Friday (February 22, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Friday (February 22, 2008) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary with Captain Sally Sell officiating.  Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County with military graveside services provided by the V.F.W. Post #2689.

     Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Huntington in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive Huntington, IN.
