Obituaries

     William W. “Red” Edington, age 85, formerly of 931 Grayston Avenue, Huntington, died 2:56 p.m. Sunday (April 6, 2008) at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington.

     Mr. Edington retired in 1982 after 30 years with Conrail Railroad.  Prior to that, he worked for Erie Railroad as a Master Carpenter.  Red was a 60 plus year member of both the American Legion Post #7 and the V.F.W. Post # 2689 in Huntington.  He loved fishing, gardening and hunting.

     Red was born on September 21, 1922, in Allen County, IN the son of Charles Thomas and Minnie Bell (Hege) Edington.  He was a veteran of WW II serving with the United States Navy.  On April 11, 1942 in Huntington, Red married Vivian L. Chapin and she preceded him in death on May 9, 1994.

     Survivors include one son – Steven W. (Raine) Edington of Huntington; one granddaughter – Kimberly Vollmar, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  A daughter – Monta Rose Orr, brothers – Dale Edington and Everett Edington, Sisters – Nina Guther and Dorothy Melcham, and one infant grandson, preceded him in death.

     Visitation will be 3 – 7 p.m. Wednesday (April 9, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday (April 10, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Russell Buzzard officiating.  Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, IN.

     Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN  46750.
