Vaughn E. Archbold, age 84, 1180 West 500 North, Huntington, died Tuesday (December 13, 2005) at 1:18 pm at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

     Mr. Archbold retired in 1985 as the co-owner of the former Mt. Etna Sawmill & Lumber Company.  A lifetime resident of Huntington County, he was with the Mt. Etna Fire Department for 30 years.

     Mr. Archbold was born in Huntington County, on October 6, 1921, the son of Lawrence and Blanche (O’Dier) Archbold.  He graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1939.  Vaughn married Mae Hedrick on May 3, 1941 in Huntington and then joined the United States Coast Guard serving during W.W. II.  

     Survivors include his wife of 64 years – Mae Hedrick of Huntington; two sons – Steve D. (Judy) Archbold of Ossian, IN and Scott E. Archbold of Huntington; two daughters – Mrs. David (Cheryl C.) Crockett of Huntington and Mrs. Greg (Karen D.) Batt of Huntington; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

     Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of the memorial service which will be at 3 pm Saturday (December 17, 2005) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Rev. Charles Dederick will be officiating and burial will be in Mt. Etna Cemetery, Mt. Etna, IN.
