Remembrance Video for Robert M. Rickert
Robert M. Rickert, age 87,
Huntington, died Thursday (August 7, 2008) at 11:37 a.m. at the
Select Specialty Care in Ft. Wayne.
Mr. Rickert was a lifetime resident and farmer in Warren Township. He graduated from Bippus High School in 1938 and was a member of the Emmanuel Community Church in Ft. Wayne, Eel River Masonic Lodge #510 in South Whitley and the Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne. Bob was a past president of the Bippus Lions Club and a member of the REMC Board of Directors for 37 years, serving as president for 22 years. He also served on the Huntington County Community School Board, the Huntington County Farm Bureau, and the Huntington County Extension Committee and was active in 4-H work for several years.
Bob was born on April 30, 1921 in Huntington County, the son of Elmer Frederick and Florence (Bechtold) Rickert. He was united in marriage to Mary Alice (Myers) Schwob on April 14, 1956 in Huntington County.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years – Mary Alice Rickert of Huntington; two sons – David Schwob (Cheri Van Winkle) Rickert of Ft. Wayne and Danny Schwob (Judy Harvill) Rickert of Ft. Wayne; two sisters - Geneva (Keith) Harris of Huntington and Treva Schaeffer of West Lake, OH; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. A son, Douglas Robert Schwob Rickert, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 2 – 7 p.m. Sunday (August 10, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday (August 11, 2008) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Dennis Miller and Rev. Ray Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN.
