Obituaries
Retha E. Waters, age 84, 521 William Street, Huntington, died on Wednesday
(November 23, 2005) at 3:54 a.m. at her home residence.
Mrs. Waters retired from Renz Dry Cleaners but previously worked for Model Dry Cleaners for over 24 years, both in Huntington. She was a seamstress at various sewing factories in Huntington, Ft. Wayne and Van Buren. A resident of Huntington County for most of her life, Mrs. Waters was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Waters was born in Roanoke, IN, on October 24, 1921, the daughter of the late Charles Benjamin and Rhoda Arvilla (Laughman) Spencer. She attended Lagrange High School. On July 25, 1940, in Huntington, IN, she married Edward A. Waters and he preceded her in death on February 27, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters – Retha E. Waters Kipp of Huntington, IN and Wanda B. Waters Bragg of Huntington, IN; one son – Edward B. Waters of Huntington, IN; two sisters – Mrs. Bill (Ruth Ellen) Young of Tulsa, OK and Iva Galindo of Brentwood, CA; one brother – Charles Spencer of Tulsa, OK; fourteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A sister – Leota Goguel, and three brothers – Glen Spencer, Bernard Spencer and William Spencer, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday (November 27, 2005) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 1 pm Monday (November 28, 2005) at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Road, Huntington, with Rev. Gene Vickery officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, IN.
