Obituaries
Ray B. Gressley, 87, 843 East Tipton Street, Huntington, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday (April 14, 2005) at Norwood Nursing Center, Huntington.
Mr. Gressley worked for Orton Crane in Huntington for over 16 years. Prior to that, he managed the Citgo station at the corner of First and Division Streets in Huntington. Mr. Gressley was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #2689, in Huntington, and an avid fisherman. He served in the United States Army, during W.W. II, as a field lineman stationed in Germany.
Mr. Gressley was born on June 17, 1917, in Wabash County, a son of Grover and Addie Emley Gressley. On May 12, 1956, he married Evelyn Jones Wilson and she preceded him in death on August 3, 2002.
Survivors include; 1 son - Ronald Gressley of Roanoke, IN, 1 daughter - Alice Carr of Mount Ida, Arkansas, 1 stepson – Carl Wilson of New Port Richey, FL, 1 stepdaughter – Mrs. Robert (Gloria) Adkins of Huntington, 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Janice Brubaker, two stepsons, Clyde and Richard Wilson, a brother, Carl Gressley, a sister, Mary Behrens, and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
There will be no visitation or funeral services. Private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington, with the V.F.W. Post #2689 performing military graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ray B. Gressley may be made to the Norwood Nursing Center in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN 46750.
