Peggy L. Benson, age 69, 608 E. Franklin St., Huntington, died Friday (August 4, 2006) at 6:49 a.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

     Mrs. Benson retired from Eagle-Picher Plastic in Huntington and operated Peg’s Beauty Shop, out of her home, for over 45 years.  She was a member of the Northview Church of Christ and the Grandmother’s Club both in Huntington.    

     Mrs. Benson was born on October 29, 1936, in Huntington, to John George and Mary (Brown) Melling.  She married Richard L. Benson on May 21, 1953 in Huntington.  He preceded her in death in May of 1957. She was a 1958 graduate of Warner College Beauty Culture in Ft. Wayne and, in 1987; she received a master of cosmetology from the State of Indiana.

     Survivors include one son – L. Wayne (Pamela) Benson of Huntington; one daughter – Mrs. Jerry (Pamela) Gaskill of Huntington; one brother – John L. Melling of Rockford, IL; one son-in-law – Jerry W. Hysong of Huntington; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  A daughter – Linda Hysong, and a son – Leslie Alan Benson, preceded her in death.

     Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday (August 7, 2006) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday (August 8, 2006) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. David Ballinger officiating.  Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.
